1. SCOPE
1.1 Scope. This standard describes the engineering process for developing the content of shipboard industrial test procedures for equipment and systems.
1.2 Applicability. This standard is intended to be used by either contractor or Navy organizations in the development of industrial test procedures for shipboard equipment and systems. It applies to test procedures used during initial installation, after repair or modification, and after extended shutdown periods. The standard applies to test procedures used during ship construction, modernization, overhauls, and restricted availabilities. Unless specifically invoked by the program manager in the Overhaul Work Package, this instruction is not invoked on
in-service availabilities undergoing work at maintenance shipyards. The Naval Supervisory Activity (NSA) has the responsibility to ensure and implement an adequate test program. In-Service Submarine Non-Propulsion Electronics Systems (NPES) and Hull, Mechanical & Electrical (HM&E) test procedures are exempted from this standard and are governed by the following policies:
a. NAVSEA T9SSN-W4-GYD-010, Standardized Test Program Manual (TPM) SSN Submarines
b. NAVSEA TL710-AD-MAN-010/SSBN/SSGN, 726 CL Ohio Class Submarine Test Program Manual
(TPM)
The above references serve as the vehicle for the publication, dissemination, and maintenance of in-service submarine test requirements.
2. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS
2.1 General. The documents listed in this section are specified in sections 3, 4, or 5 of this standard. This section does not include documents cited in other sections of this standard or recommended for additional information or as examples. While every effort has been made to ensure the completeness of this list, document users are cautioned that they must meet all specified requirements of documents cited in sections 3, 4, or 5 of this standard, whether or not they are listed.
2.2 Government documents.
2.2.1 Other Government documents, drawings, and publications. The following other Government documents, drawings, and publications form a part of this standard to the extent specified herein. Unless otherwise specified,
the issues of these documents are those cited in the solicitation or contract.
