SHUTDOWN AND SECURING

STEP            STATION                                        INSTRUCTION

Provide all of the necessary information to turn off equipment, disconnect test equipment and services, and restore the equipment or system to pretest conditions.

Steps shall be sequentially numbered, starting with step 1.

Shutdown instructions shall not require gathering or recording of data.  All data observation and recording should be part of the testing steps.

Shutdown instructions may not refer to technical manuals or other publications.  However, appendices that contain standard shutdown procedures may be included in the Test Procedure and referenced in the shutdown and securing instructions.

Avoid generalized statements such as "Return equipment to normal operating condition." SHUTDOWN AND SECURING pages shall include a signature section as depicted below.
