MIL-STD-2106A(SH) APPENDIX A
d. Existing test documents may be re-titled at any time to comply with current test titling policy; however, an approved TCP or TPR shall be required to formally document the change.
A.4.2.2 Test title format and content.
a. Test document titles shall be limited to a maximum of 120 characters including spaces and hyphens. The use of symbols shall be avoided to reduce misinterpretation.
b. The inclusion of multiple test stages in a single test document shall be avoided to prevent misunderstanding document content and possible redundancy with other test documents. When, out of necessity, a test document must describe a test which covers two stages, the test title (and test number) shall always denote the higher stage test.
c. Each test document title shall be constructed in two to four sequential segments as shown on figure A-3. Segment 1 (Primary Hardware Identifier) and Segment 4 (Test Type) are mandatory in the title of each document. Segment 2 is used to identify interfacing equipment/systems at test stages four and five. Segment 3 is used to modify test types. Test titles shall contain no more than 120 characters.
