MIL-STD-2106A(SH) APPENDIX A
A.1 SCOPE
TEST NUMBER/TEST STAGE/TEST TITLE DEFINITIONS
A.1.1 Scope. This appendix defines Test Number/Test Stage/Test Title definitions. This appendix is a mandatory part of this standard. The information contained herein is intended for compliance.
A.1.2 Application. These Test Number/Test Stage/Test Title Definitions apply to all testing of shipboard equipment and systems performed in a shipyard or at sea during industrial periods.
A.2 DETAILED REQUIREMENTS - TEST NUMBERING
A.2.1 Test numbering procedures. Industrial Test Numbering is defined in the following paragraphs. A.2.1.1 Introduction.
a. Policy and procedures for test numbering determination and assignment are described in the following
sub-sections. As agents of NAVSEA 05E1, the official assignment of test numbers shall be performed by the Port Hueneme Division, Naval Surface Warfare Center (PHD NSWC) Code A34, using the Test and Evaluation Automated Management Information System (TEAMIS).
b. The authorized procedure for numbering and identification of test documents is based on the Expanded Ship Work Breakdown Structure (ESWBS). The master default ESWBS file list can be accessed, viewed, and retrieved in the reference section of Configuration Data Manager's Database-Open Architecture (CDMD-OA) and Configuration Management Reference Material (CMRM) websites www.cm.navsea.navy.mil and www.cm.navsea.navy.mil/cm/index.nsf, respectively. CDMD-OA and CMRM require user accounts. TEAMIS also provides an ESWBS quick reference list.
c. The test numbering policy and procedures provided herein enable standardization and control of the application of testing in the ship acceptance test environment. This process enables collection of test document information and consistent assignment of test numbers which will facilitate development, identification, storage, retrieval, and distribution of test documents. Numbered test documents include test outlines, test procedures, test summaries, and test reports. Such integrated test documents carry identical test numbers for the associated test requirement.
A.2.1.2 Policy. Requirements for the determination and assignment of test numbers are applicable to all military, government, and civilian organizations that develop test documents for use in Navy ship acceptance test programs. This applicability extends to test documents developed and/or used at land-based test facilities where test procedure verification is performed in advance of actual ship acceptance testing.
A.2.1.2.1 Test numbering requirement.
a. Each newly-developed test document shall be numbered in accordance with the requirements of this test numbering procedure.
b. Each revised test document shall be numbered (or renumbered) in accordance with the requirements of this section.
c. Test documents whose number does not comply with NAVSEA's current test numbering policy must have new test numbers assigned before being entered into the TEAMIS Repository.
